Career Snapshot
Private to Public
My first job in Austin, TX was a manufacturing company. It had been bought out 6 months earlier by a large public company, but it still felt and ran like the small private company it once was. It was here I realized I liked small-medium businesses, and the more intimate setting it provides for. Working with all departments witnessing the product flow from sales to completion on the manufacturing floor.
Private to Venture Capital
One of the most stressful, but at the same time rewarding, jobs I’ve had. It had been bought by a Venture Capital group 6 months prior to me joining. The organization was struggling with the shift of expectations, and cash flow was problematic. With the help of a consulting team, and many late nights, we found the gaps in cash flow and the organization was on a much better path.
Nonprofit
I intended to stay only a year or two, but 8.5 years later I learned to become a CFO, with the guidance of some exceptional mentors on the Board. What kept me? There were some significant opportunities to grow the financial viability of the organization, starting with the sales model in place. Serving under 5 CEO’s during this time it gave me the opportunity to learn how to lead.
